du Telecommunications In $700m Europe India Gateway Undersea Cable System
May 9, 2008, Dubai, U.A.E.  du Telecommunications, the integrated telecom operator in the UAE announced that it has signed a construction and maintenance agreement (C&MA) to build the first direct, high-bandwidth optical-fiber submarine cable system from the United Kingdom to India. The Europe India Gateway (EIG) cable system, which will cost more than US$700 million, will significantly enhance capacity and diversity between the countries of these regions. It brings in considerable diversity and bandwidth into the Middle East while providing global access to operators in the region.

Nanotechnology expert – Ted Sargent Awarded $10 Mln. King Abdullah University Grant

MIT Creates Gecko-Inspired Bandage
Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. 17 March 2008  MIT researchers and colleagues have created a waterproof adhesive bandage inspired by gecko lizards that may soon join sutures and staples as a basic operating room tool for patching up surgical wounds or internal injuries. Drawing on some of the principles that make gecko feet unique, the surface of the bandage has the same kind of nanoscale hills and valleys that allow the lizards to cling to walls and ceilings.
